Vessel Records
What a vessel record contains, the UID, and how vessels link to work orders.

Overview
A vessel record is the persistent record of a marine asset in VesselOne. It stores identifying information, specifications, and links to all work orders and service history associated with that vessel.
What a Vessel Record Contains
- Vessel name (required)
- Registration number (required)
- Vessel type (Motor Yacht, Sailing Yacht, Commercial, RIB, etc.)
- Hull identification number (HIN)
- Year, make, and model
- Current berth or location
- Platform UID (VO-XXXXX) — auto-assigned, permanent
Vessel UID (VO-XXXXX)
Each vessel receives a unique identifier in the format VO-XXXXX when first created. This UID is platform-wide — no two vessels on VesselOne share the same UID. It appears on work orders, in service history, and will be used for QR code scanning in a future release.
The vessel UID cannot be changed after creation.
Vessels and Work Orders
Every work order must be linked to a vessel. You can view all work orders for a vessel from the vessel detail page under the Work Orders tab. Archiving a vessel does not delete its work orders — they remain accessible but the vessel cannot receive new work orders.
