Create Your First Work Order
End-to-end guide: select vessel, fill details, set billing, assign, and open.
Last updated: February 2026
Overview
A work order is the central record for any job carried out on a vessel. It ties together the vessel, the assigned team member, time entries, photos, materials, and billing into one record.
Creating a Work Order
Navigate to Work Orders → Create Work Order or use the + Quick Add button.
- 1Select or search for the vessel (required). If the vessel does not exist yet, you can create it inline.
- 2Enter a title for the work order (e.g. "Annual service — 2026").
- 3Add a description of the work to be carried out.
- 4Select the billing type: Fixed Price (quoted amount) or Charge-up (Time & Materials).
- 5If Fixed Price, enter the quoted amount.
- 6Assign a technician (optional at creation — can be assigned later).
- 7Set the start date and expected completion date.
- 8Click Create Work Order.
What Happens Next
The work order is created with a status of Draft. You can review it, add more details, then change the status to Open to release it to your team. Once the assigned technician begins work, the status moves to In Progress.
Work orders in Draft status are not visible to Technicians. Set the status to Open when you are ready to assign work.
Key Concepts
- The vessel must exist before a work order can be created (or create it inline during WO creation).
- Billing type cannot be changed after time entries have been logged.
- All work order data is private to your company by default.
