Full permissions comparison: Company Admin vs Technician.

Overview

VesselOne has two company-level user roles: Company Admin and Technician. The role determines what a user can see and do within your company workspace.

Company Admin

Company Admins have full access within their company workspace.

  • Create, edit, and archive vessels
  • Create, edit, complete, and archive work orders
  • Change any work order status (including Draft → Open, and In Progress → Complete)
  • View and export timesheets for all team members
  • Invite, deactivate, and manage team members
  • Configure company settings, branding, and rates
  • Manage billing and subscription
  • Publish service history to vessel owners
  • View cost summaries, margins, and billing breakdowns

Technician

Technicians have restricted access focused on work execution.

  • View vessels and work orders they are assigned to
  • Update work order status (Open → In Progress, In Progress → Awaiting Parts/On Hold)
  • Log time against assigned work orders
  • Upload and caption photos against assigned work orders
  • Log material usage against assigned work orders
  • Post in the work order chat
  • View their own time entries

Technicians cannot view company billing data, cost summaries, hourly rates, or access company settings.
