Photos & Work Orders

Linking photos to work orders vs vessels, and naming best practices.

Last updated: February 2026

Overview

Photos in VesselOne are always attached to a work order. There is no separate vessel-level photo gallery — vessel photos are accessed through the work orders associated with that vessel.

Browsing Photos

You can browse all photos from two places:

  • Photos section (top navigation) — shows all photos across all work orders, filterable by vessel, date, and technician.
  • Work order Photos tab — shows photos for that specific work order.

Naming Best Practices

Adding clear captions to photos makes them easier to find later and makes service history summaries more meaningful for vessel owners.

  • Use location descriptors: "Port engine compartment — before", "Starboard hull — after repair".
  • Use stage descriptors: "Before", "During", "After", "Completed".
  • For complex jobs, include a sequence number: "Phase 1 — antifoul removed", "Phase 2 — primer applied".

When publishing service history to a vessel owner, well-captioned photos make the summary much more valuable and professional.
