Creating Work Orders
Step-by-step guide to creating a work order, required vs optional fields.
Last updated: February 2026
Who Does This
Company Admins can create work orders. Technicians cannot create work orders.
Where to Go
Work Orders → New Work Order, or click the + button in the top navigation → New Work Order.
Required Fields
- Vessel — the vessel the work is being performed on.
- Title — a short, descriptive name for the work order.
- Billing type — Fixed Price or Charge-up (T&M).
Optional Fields
- Description — detailed scope of work.
- Assigned technician — who is doing the work (can be assigned or changed later).
- Start date and expected completion date.
- Quoted amount (required if billing type is Fixed Price).
- Is billable — uncheck for internal/business work (e.g. yard maintenance, training).
After Creation
The work order is created with status Draft. It will not be visible to Technicians until you change the status to Open.
If the vessel does not exist yet, you can create it inline from the vessel selector field in the work order form.
